AURA

Screening-level consequence analysis: dispersion, fires, explosions and toxic effects

What it does

AURA (Atmospheric Unintended Release Analysis) estimates how far the effects of an accidental release of a flammable or toxic material can reach. You describe a leak; AURA works out the release rate, the pool or cloud it forms, and the distances to fire, explosion and toxic effects, then puts them in one report. It is a screening tool: results are indicative and do not replace detailed, validated consequence modelling.

What you can do

  • Chemical library with thermodynamic properties and equations of state
  • Source term, tank and level, pool formation and evaporation
  • Dispersion for selectable weather cases
  • Toxic effects, jet fire, pool fire, tank fire and flash fire
  • Vapour cloud explosion, BLEVE and fireball
  • Hazard zones on a map and a single scenario report
